The problem
A large greenhouse farm outside Riyadh had no grid connection. Irrigation, climate control and the staff quarters all had to run around the clock, in desert heat, with no utility to fall back on. Running everything on diesel meant high fuel costs and a single point of failure.
| Site | Value |
|---|---|
| Location | Near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia |
| Grid | None. A future 380 V / 60 Hz connection is planned |
| Production load | Up to 280 kW, about 3,280 kWh per day |
| Living and office load | Up to 20 kW, about 340 kWh per day |
The system
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| Solar PV | 495 kWp ground-mounted array (900 × 550 W monocrystalline modules) |
| Hybrid inverter / PCS | 500 kW solar + storage unit |
| Battery | 350 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) |
| Enclosure | 20 ft outdoor cabinet with BMS, fire suppression and energy management system (EMS) |
| Generator | Existing diesel generator, connected through an automatic transfer switch (ATS) |
| Grid-ready | Designed to connect to the grid when it arrives, with no redesign |
Solar powers the farm during the day and charges the battery. The battery carries the evening and night loads. The EMS starts the generator only when the battery reaches its lower limit.

How we delivered it
- Assessment. Production and living loads measured separately, so the system was sized for the farm's real daily pattern rather than a nameplate total.
- Design. Single-line diagram, PV layout, battery sizing and generator integration in one proposal.
- Supply. Equipment factory-tested and shipped with full documentation.
- Installation. Built on site, with our engineers supporting installation and commissioning.
- Operation. The system has been in operation since October 2024.

Why it matters for your site
If your factory or farm has no grid, or a grid you cannot rely on, this is the same approach we take: measure the real loads, design solar, storage and generator as one system, and keep the generator for backup only.
