Lead-acid to lithium upgrade: see the lifetime cost before you switch
Lead-acid banks need replacing every few years. LFP lithium lasts far longer, and we show you the numbers first.
Why sites switch
| Lead-acid | LFP lithium | |
|---|---|---|
| Usable capacity | about 50% of rated | about 90% of rated |
| Cycle life | 500–1,500 cycles | 6,000+ cycles |
| Typical replacement | every 3–5 years under daily cycling | 12–15 years |
| Maintenance | regular checks, some types need water | none in normal use |
| Monitoring | usually none | BMS with remote alarms |
What we check before the upgrade
- Your existing inverter or charger: can it work with lithium, or does it need replacing?
- Your real load and backup time, so you do not pay for capacity you never use
- Space, ventilation and fire requirements

Your old batteries
Old lead-acid batteries must be disposed of through a licensed recycler in your country. We include the expected cost in your lifetime calculation; we do not collect batteries ourselves.
